NYC MetroCard Bonus Calculator

This calculator is for the fare effective March 3, 2013. The base fare is $2.50 with a bonus of 5% (with a $5 minimum). (Click here for the official MTA notice with info on the $1 new card fee and tips on when to buy an unlimited.)
If the $1 new card fee is charged, it will be deducted from the purchase amount before calculating the 5% bonus. In other words, $20 will get you a new $19.95 MetroCard or $21.00 if added to an old MetroCard.

Note that MetroCard Vending Machines (MVMs) will only allow you to add amounts that are multiples of 5 cents. For this reason, only totals that are divisible by 5 cents are given here.

The average fare for a pay-per-ride card with the bonus is $2.38.
